Porter, Savoy Named CIAA Cross Country Runners of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams men’s and women’s cross country teams got the season off to a fast start. The team was rewarded for their efforts with a pair of WSSU runners being named Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Cross Country Runners of the Week. Both performances came at the Fleet Feet XC Invitational hosted by Catawba College.

WSSU junior Victoria Porter was named the CIAA Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. She ran a 23:34.8 in the women’s 5K run. The time placed her 18th among scoring runners and 27th overall to lead all WSSU runners.

WSSU freshman Jordan Savoy was named the CIAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week after running a 32:36.2 in the men’s 8K run. The time placed him 33rd among scoring runners and 43rd overall at the meet. The performance was the first collegiate meet for him.
