CHARLOTTE, NC – Winston-Salem State freshman guard Amaya Tucker was honored for a terrific freshman season when she was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Rookie of Year, Monday morning. Along with the rookie of the year honor, Tucker also earned a spot on the CIAA All-Rookie Team.
Tucker took home the honor after great freshman season. She finished the regular season as the Rams' leading scorer, averaging 15.9 points per game to rank fifth in the CIAA. She also had 72 three-pointers made to rank third in the conference.
She is a native of Winston-Salem, N.C. and she was a graduate of Reagan High School. Tucker and the Rams will kick off the post-season when the takes on the winner of the Shaw/Elizabeth City State game this evening.
