RALEIGH, NC –The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-23, 5-6 CIAA) had a hard time getting runs across the plate when the team took a 5-3 loss to the Saint Augustine's Falcons (13-8, 10-3 CIAA), Friday afternoon. The Rams were held in check against the Falcons' pitching when the team took the tough loss.
As a team, the Rams totaled six hits in the game. However, the team could only get three runs across the plate in the tough loss. WSSU junior second base Daijah Chambers and senior catcher Tiara Delaney were the only players to notch RBI in the game. Chambers was one-for-two at the plate with an RBI. Junior short stop Destiny Snipes added a double.
The Rams' scoring all came in the second inning, but the team could not hold the Falcons at bay. In the opening inning, the Rams allowed a pair of first inning runs to the Falcons before breaking out for three second inning runs. Delaney got things started with an RBI sacrifice fly to score sophomore pitcher Erica Davis. Snipes added an RBi double to score freshman Tia Robinson. Chambers added an RBI single as well to score junior Kortney Thomas and left the Rams with a 3-2 lead. However, the Rams could not get any more runs across the plate with a run in the third, fifth, and sixth innings to leave the Rams with the 5-3 loss.
Davis (6-12) took the pitching loss. She pitched six inning and allowed five runs (three earned). She added four strikeouts with two walks.
