  • Rams Softball to Hold Tryouts

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams softball team will hold open tryouts on Wednesday, September 4th at Whitaker Gymnasium on the campus of Winston-Salem State University. The tryout will give current students of Winston-Salem State University the opportunity to join one of the premier softball programs in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region.

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams softball duo of junior second base Daijah Chambers and junior pitcher/designated hitter Erica Davis were honored once again when the two players were named to the 2019 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State team, Monday afternoon. The honor comes in addition to several conference, regional, and national honors for the pair
  • Chambers, Davis Named to Division II CCA All-America Team

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams softball brought in two more prestigious honors when junior second base Daijah Chambers and junior designated hitter Erica Davis were both named to the 2019 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (CCA) All-America Softball Team. The duo took home the honors after leading the Rams to a 33-13 record, winning the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship, and earning a seventh-seed in the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament.
  • Rams Take a 12-4 Loss to West Chester in Second Round of NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament

    INSTITUTE, WV – The #7 Winston-Salem State Rams (33-12) gave a great effort, but the team came up short in a 12-4 loss to the #3 West Chester Golden Rams (36-19), Friday afternoon in the second round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament. The Rams got the game going with their usual hot start, but some fielding proved costly as the team was overwhelmed late as West Chester pulling away with the win.
  • Rams Take an 8-0 Loss to West Virginia State in Elimination Round of 2019 NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament

    INSTITUTE, WV – The #7 Winston-Salem State Rams (33-13) ended their terrific season when the team took an 8-0 loss to the #2 West Virginia State Yellowjackets (34-15) in the elimination round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament. The loss ends an historic season for the Rams that saw the team reach new heights. 
  • Chambers Named to NFCA DII All-Region Team

    LOUISVILLE, KY – Winston-Salem State University junior second base Daijah Chambers earned her second regional honor of the season when she was selected for the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) DII All-Region Team, Thursday afternoon. She was a second team selection to the Atlantic All-Region team.

    INSTITUTE, WV – The Winston-Salem State Rams (32-15) got their post-season started in a big way when the team took a 3-0 win over the West Virginia State Yellowjackets in the opening round of the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Softball Tournament, Thursday afternoon. The Rams combined some strong hitting with some great defensive play to record their first regional tournament victory in school history.

    LOCK HAVEN, PA – The honors just keep coming in for the Winston-Salem State Rams softball team with three players being named to the Conference Commissioner’s Association D2CCA All-Atlantic Region Team. The Rams had two first team selections along with one second team selection.
  • Rams Claim 2019 CIAA Softball Championship with a Dramatic Victory

    SALEM, VA – The Winston-Salem State University Rams (32-11) won the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship with a dramatic 5-4 win in game two of the final round of the conference championship tournament. After taking a 4-4 tie into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rams took advantage of an errant Claflin throw to claim their first CIAA title since 2016.

  • Six Rams Named to 2019 All-CIAA Softball Team

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams softball team will need to make room on their trophy cases as the team had six players to earn Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference honors. There were also a pair of Rams who earned spots on the CIAA All-Rookie Team as well.

    SALEM, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (29-10) got their post-season started in a big way when the team took a 9-0 win over the Elizabeth City State Vikings (12-17), Monday afternoon. The Rams opened the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament with their third straight 9-0 win.

The Rams sent their seniors out in style when the team took a shutout victory on Senior Day.

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (24-9) could not find any answers for some strong pitching in an 8-0 loss at Mount Olive (30-17), Tuesday afternoon. The Rams were held scoreless for just the third time this season, but the team gave a solid effort.

    MOUNT OLIVE, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams (24-10) struggled at the plate when the team took a 7-1 road loss to the Mount Olive Trojans (31-17), Tuesday afternoon. The Rams were able to get a run across the plate, but the team could not keep up with the hard-hitting Trojans.

    PEMBROKE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (24-7) staged a late rally, but the effort was not enough as the team took a 6-3 road loss to the UNC Pembroke Braves (16-21), Wednesday afternoon. The Rams had their trademark solid hitting performance, but the team could not get the runs they needed across the plate in the hard-fought loss.

    PEMBROKE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (24-8) played a solid overall game, but the team allowed a big sixth inning that proved costly in an 11-3 road loss to the UNC Pembroke Braves. The Rams took the loss in spite of a solid hitting performance and some spots of great defense.

    ORANGEBURG, SC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (24-5, 12-1 CIAA) took their first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) loss of the season when the team took a 4-3 loss to the Claflin Panthers (27-13, 13-0 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. After falling behind early, the Rams staged a late rally, but the team fell short in the tough loss.

    SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (23-4, 11-0 CIAA) had one of their best offensive showings of the season when the team took a 19-0 road win over the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (0-17, 0-11 CIAA). The Rams took their most impressive win of the season as they not only scored 19 runs, they also held the Blue Bears scoreless.
  • Rams Duo Earns CIAA Weekly Honors

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams softball team earned a pair of honors after a great week as WSSU junior second base Daijah Chambers was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Defensive Player of the Week while freshman first base Aniyah Jones was named the CIAA Rookie of the Week. The Rams took home the honors after going 3-1 for the week.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (20-3, 9-0 CIAA) played some great defense when the team took a 4-0 win over the Fayetteville State Broncos (3-20-3-6 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Rams got all the offense they needed in the fifth inning as the team cruised to the shutout victory.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (21-3, 10-0 CIAA) had a powerful performance when the team took a 9-3 win over the Fayetteville State broncos (3-21, 3-7 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. After trailing for much of the game, the Rams broke out late with eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings to claim their 12th straight win.

    COLUMBIA, SC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (16-3) broke out for one of their biggest wins of the season when the team took a dominating 14-2 road win over the Benedict Tigers (11-10), Thursday afternoon. The Rams hit five home runs in the game to claim the victory.

    COLUMBIA, SC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (17-3) had another great offensive showing when the team took a 15-6 road win over the Benedict Tigers (11-11), Thursday afternoon. The Rams rolled to their eighth win when the team reached double-digit scoring for the 10th time this season.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – After a strong week of play, Winston-Salem State junior second base Daijah Chambers brought home an honor as she was selected as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Offensive Player of the Week. She brought home the honor after leading the Rams to a 6-2 performance last week, including six wins at the CIAA Softball Round Up.
