MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (24-9) could not find any answers for some strong pitching in an 8-0 loss at Mount Olive (30-17), Tuesday afternoon. The Rams were held scoreless for just the third time this season, but the team gave a solid effort.
As a team, the Rams were held without a hit in the game. Freshman third base Alleigh Himes was the only WSSU player to reach base in the game as she took advantage of a Trojans fielding error.
WSSU junior Erica Davis (9-6) was credited with the pitching loss, although she threw just two innings with four runs allowed (four earned) on four hits with a walk. Sophomore Tia Robinson got the start and she went four innings. She finished the game with four runs allowed (three earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts.
The two teams would go on to complete the doubleheader later in the day. For more information on Rams softball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
