MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams softball duo of junior second base Daijah Chambers and junior pitcher/designated hitter Erica Davis were honored once again when the two players were named to the 2019 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State team, Monday afternoon. The honor comes in addition to several conference, regional, and national honors for the pair.
The selection to the team came on two fronts for Davis who was a first team all-state selection both as a pitcher and as a designated hitter. As a hitter, Davis finished the 2019 season with a .449 batting average with 10 doubles, a triple, and four home runs with 32 RBI. As a pitcher, she was just as good, going 15-8 as a starting pitcher for the Rams with 95 strikeouts in 141.0 innings. She had a 2.53 earned run average (ERA) as well. In addition to being named to the NCCSIA College Division All-State team, Davis was a D2CCAI All-American and a D2CCA All-Region selection. She was also a first team Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference selection as well.
Chambers was also a first team all-state team selection. She brought home the honor after a tremendous season. She finished the 2019 season with a .462 batting average with 45 runs scored and 44 RBI. She also added nine doubles, five triples, and nine home runs. Defensively, she had a .978 fielding percentage with 78 putouts, 54 assists and aiding in three double plays. Like Davis, Chambers was also a D2CCA All-American as well as an all-region selection. She was also a first team All-CIAA selection as well.
