DURHAM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (10-6, 9-3 CIAA) remained on a hot streak when the team took a 4-2 win over the Virginia State Trojans (8-4, 7-2 CIAA) Trojans, Saturday afternoon. The win was the third straight win for the Rams and their ninth win in their last 11 matches.
Winston-Salem State had to bounce back with some strong play in singles as the team opened the match with a loss in doubles. The team got things started with a default win at #6 singles while junior Avion Harris added a default win at #3 singles. Freshman Kyra Akande got one of the key wins as she took a 6-0, 6-2 win at #5 singles. Fellow freshman Kyrsten Jennelle added a 6-2, 6-3 win at #4 singles.
With the win, the Rams improve to 10-6 overall and they close out Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play with a 9-3 record. The Rams will close out the regular season when they head to Raleigh, N.C. to close out the regular season against the Meredith Falcons, Tuesday afternoon.
