ALLENDALE, MI – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams 4x100m relay team stepped up in a big way, Saturday when the team placed second at the 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. After qualifying for the finals with a 46.41 and placing eighth, Thursday afternoon, the Lady Rams stepped up their efforts in a big way with a stellar finals performance.
The Lady Rams posted a season-best 45.79 to place second in the event finals. Only Lincoln (Mo.) had a better time than the Lady Rams in the finals. The relay consisted of junior Tajanel McNeil, junior Nya Michaux, sophomore Raven Covington, and freshman Ty-Leah Hampton.
With the effort, the quartet will be in line to also take home United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-American honors after finishing in the top eight. The effort caps the athletic year for Winston-Salem State University.
