WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams track & field team opened the outdoor track & field season in style with some great performances on the opening day of the Wake Forest Open, Friday afternoon. Competing in front of a hometown crowd proved do inspire the Lady Rams to some strong performances in their first outdoor track & field meet of the season.
WSSU senior Tajanel McNeill kicked things off with a win in the women's triple jump when she recorded a 40:05.5" (12.33m) leap in the event. The mark was a provisional qualifying time for the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor track & Field national championship.
The Lady Rams also saw some great performances on the track with senior sprinter Nya Michaux leading the way. After qualifying for finals in the women's 100m dash, she placed third in the event with a 11.99, another provisional qualifying time.
