    NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Winston-Salem State duo of sophomore sprinter Tamia McLean and junior sprinter Cierra Thompson were both honored by the United States Track & Field Cross Country/Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) when they were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. They were among an exceptional group of 448 student-athletes to be recognized as members of the team.

    KINGSVILLE, TX – The Winston-Salem State Rams 4x400m relay team put on a strong showing at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Nationals Championships, Friday evening. The team ran one of their top times of the season to place 12th in the preliminary round of the women’s 4x400m relay at Javelina Stadium in Kingsville, Texas.
  • Thompson Places 15th in 100m Prelims at 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship Meet

    KINGSVILLE, TX – Winston-Salem State University junior Cierra Thompson gave a great effort when she placed 15th in the preliminaries of the 100m dash at the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet, Thursday evening. She ran an 11.77 to earn a 15th place finish in the event.

    KINGSVILLE, TX – Winston-Salem State University will turn its attention to the national stage when the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship Track & Field Championship Meet takes place this weekend. The Rams will take part in two events at the meet with junior Cierra Thompson taking part in the women’s 100m dash and the Rams’ 4x400m relay team all looking to claim national titles.

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The Winston-Salem State Rams will have national glory on their minds next week as a sprinter and the Rams’ 4x400m relay team were all selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. Winston-Salem State junior sprinter Cierra Thompson and the Rams’ 4x400m relay team were among the field of 754 participants selected for the meet. The student-athletes were selected after reaching provisional qualifying standards established for their respective events and ranking among the top competitors in the nation.
  • Six Rams Named to USTFCCCA All-Region Team

    NEW ORLEANS, LA – The Winston-Salem State University Rams Track & Field team raked in the honors when seven members of the team were selected to the 2019 United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) NCAA Division II Track & Field All-Region team, Tuesday afternoon. The honors go to the top five individuals in each event and the top three relay teams from the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region.

  • Rams Claim 2019 CIAA Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship

    BOWIE, MD – The Winston-Salem State University Rams claimed their second Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship in school history, Sunday, when the team scored 91 second day points to take the conference title. The Rams totaled 113 points to claim the conference championship ahead of Fayetteville State’s 107 points. With the title, the Rams brought home their first conference title since the 2017 season. 
  • Rams Tied for Third Place After Day One of 2019 CIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

    BOWIE, MD – The Winston-Salem State Rams women’s outdoor track & field team began their quest for a conference championship with some solid performances on day one of the 2019 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women’s Track & Field Championships, Saturday. The Rams got some strong showings in field events while several qualifying for the finals in numerous running events on the opening day. At the end of the day, the Rams stood in third place at the meet with 22 points heading into the final day two of the event.

    INDIANAPOLIS, IN – The indoor track & field season isn’t over for two of the Rams as WSSU junior sprinter Ma’Kyia Gayden and sophomore sprinter Victoria Porter were both selected as participants in the 2019 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet. The duo were among 270 women selected for participation in the championship meet. The duo earned their selection after reaching provisional qualifying standards in their respective events.

The Rams saw some of their top performances of the season to total 71 points at the meet.
