HIGH POINT, NC – The Winston-Salem State University track & field team got its first action of the 2019 season when the team took part in the 11th Annual Vertklasse Meeting hosted by High Point University. The Rams shook off the rust and got back to action with some impressive performances in their first outdoor track & field meet of the season.
The Rams had their most impressive performances on the track with some impressive performances in the sprint events. Junior Cierra Thompson set the tone for the Rams when she placed sixth in the women's 100m dash. She ran an 11.91, an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time. Sophomore Victoria Porter placed 11th in the women's 200m dash with a 57.07 to place 11th in the event. The Rams' 4x400m relay team also had a strong day with a fourth place finish in 47.83.
