Lady Rams Fall to West Liberty in Five Sets


FAIRMONT, WV – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-4) took their second hard-fought five-set loss when the team fell to the West Liberty Hilltoppers (1-3), 3-2. The Lady Rams took the loss in spite of an inspired effort by the team that that gave a great effort for the entire match. However, in the end, the Lady Rams finished with the loss, 23-25, 16-25, 25-16, 25-16, and 8-16.


The Lady Rams saw a trio of strong individual performances with the tandem of sophomore right side hitter Olivia Owens, freshman outside hitter Jocelyn Mills, and senior Katelyn Wensley all recording 10 kills each in the match. Senior libero Katelyn Sigala led the WSSU defensive effort with 26 digs in the match.  

With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to 0-4 to open the season. The team will return to action next weekend when they head to Lincoln, Pa. to take part in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up.
